Fishing matches

All the fishing at Docklow is run by the tackle shop 01568760 544. 

That includes match availability and booking on etc. Always best to give them a call in the mornings to organise and get the answers you need.

All the matches at Docklow are organised by Docklow. There are no private knock ups. That allows the pleasure anglers, of which that is the majority here to enjoy their time.

From April to Mid-October they are:

1. Saturday – Opens sometimes run on Match Lake too.

2. Members’ fishing match is always 2nd Saturday monthly – so although there is an open numbers may be lower.

3. Sunday – Stock Pool OPEN fishing match – always book in with the shop in advance.

4. Tuesday – Match Lake is for residents only.

5. Wednesday – Snake, silvers match.

6. Thursday – Farmer Jack OPEN.

So if you enjoy a match

This does not interfere with day tickets or pleasure angler’s enjoyment.

Match Rules

Permitted Baits: Sweetcorn, Luncheon Meat, Maggot, Caster, Worm, Hemp, Docklow

Fishery Pellet. You can use Docklow Fishery Paste or your own pellets as hookbaits only

You may use bread as a hook bait only – no striking off

No surface baits or artificial baits

No dusting, powdered additives, soil or groundbait

Barbless hooks only

Minimum 2 keepnets (1 of which is for silver fish only)

60lb net limit – weight over 60lb will be taken off. Over 70lb net will be discounted

These limits also apply to the weigh-bag

All nets MUST be laid out to dry on the bank until 15 minutes before the match starts

All fish over 4″ must be landed using a landing net

No dropping or throwing fish into your keepnet – use landing net to transfer the fish

16m pole limit – no floating pole

All pole rigs must have a float attached – minimum 6″ line between pole tip and float

No over shotted floats

No fixed leads or feeders – no mainline loop method or stops above feeder

No elasticated feeders of any kind

Minimum 4″ hook length to be used with method/pellet/block end feeders

No pole cup feeding while using a rod at the same time

Your platform, seatbox or chair must touch the concrete surface of your peg

No “oil rigging”. No standing on your seatbox

The area of your peg is halfway between your peg and the anglers’ beside you

Light gardening only – no raking

Respectful weighing. No rolling or tipping fish
